Obamarama! Continued

February 14, 2008 · No Comments

Hillary is planning on taking what she has called “incendiary steps” in order to garner the nomination of the Democratic party.

Those steps include pushing for the seating of the superdelegates removed from Michigan and Florida after both states decided to move their primaries without the consent of the Democratic Party. Such an action proves two distinct points.

POINT ONE

First, Hillary is a MASSIVE asshole. She is so fearful that she cannot garner votes according to the rules that she feels that she must bend and twist the game to her advantage. Just before Barack truly became a pressing threat while Hillary still thought that she was going to easily win the Democratic nomination, she fully supported the removal of the delegates from the two aforementioned states. She stood by her words despite their unpopularity because she felt that it was important to stand by and back up the decisions of her party. Once she realized that she was in hot water, she pulled a fast one and flipped her position faster than Barack Obama can inspire a nation. As I recall, one of the main reasons why John Kerry was not elected was because he was a flip flopper.

Right on Hillary. Way to be.

POINT TWO

The use of the superdelegate in the Democratic party is crazy. I’ve said this before and I will say it again and again and again.

I cannot believe that there is a system that not only puts an amazing amount of power into such a tiny minority but also is patently un-American and completely in contradiction of the “one man, one vote” ideal. As it stands right now, neither of the two candidates will likely win the enough delegates prior to the Democratic National Convention. This in turn will force the 796 superdelegates to act and decide the election. If this comes to pass, I do not see the reason why the Democratic Party even held an election in the first place. The DNC may as well just leave the selection process to the 796 superdelegates and call it a day.

In an age when the most frequent excuse for not voting is that people feel that their votes won’t count, it is infuriating and extremely callous of the Democratic Party to run business as they do.

THE BOTTOM LINE

If you walk away with anything from this blog post, walk away angry. Maybe your fury will bring the era of the superdelegate to a close.
